1815 National Register of Historic Places. No house in Kentucky more gracefully embodies Federal Style architecture than Farmington. Completed in 1815 by John and Lucy Fry Speed, this house was built after a plan designed by Thomas Jefferson. Striking Jeffersonian features of its perfectly proportioned 14 rooms include two octagonal rooms, the adventurously steep and narrow "hidden" stairway, and the fanlights between the front and rear halls.

The present 18-acre site also includes an elaborate early 19th-century garden, stone springhouse and barn, cook's quarters and kitchen, blacksmith shop, apple orchard, museum store, and a remodeled carriage house.
